& unlimited dogs!

Welcome to the & unlimited dogs photo blog!  I'm Meredith, a dog-loving photographer, from Cape Elizabeth, Maine, where I live with my boyfriend, Michael and our totally insane lab, Orvis (who you will get to know quite well!).  The best part of my day is when I'm on the ground, rolling around and laughing with a dog!

Please check back often, as I will continue to update the site with each shoot.  Thank you for stopping by!

maine dog photographer: copley the puppy preview!

Oh, my heart melted when I met this little guy the other day.  Copley the golden retriever puppy is a sweet little ball of golden fluff.  And he’s only 16 weeks old!

I couldn’t resist posting this picture of Copley as he grabbed my camera strap.  Too cute!

Okay, just one more!  It’s hard to stop.

I’m off to Palm Beach to photograph a wedding (the couple’s dogs will actually be in the ceremony!), but I will post more pictures of this sweet little polar bear when I return.  Happy Thursday!

maine dog photographer: tiny the black lab

Since starting my business this past year, I’ve met so many lovely and inspiring people.  I’ve enjoyed getting to know and networking several with amazing, talented individuals.  Julie Bernier is definitely one of those people I’m so fortunate to have connected with, and I feel incredibly lucky to be able to call her a friend.

When Julie, the owner of Maine’s only puppy nursery, Dances with Dogs, contacted me about collaborating with her on a special project, I couldn’t wait to hear more about her ideas and start brainstorming.  Our first planning session took place during a lovely hike in Cape Elizabeth’s Robinson Woods while watching our three labs (Orvis, Casco & Tonya) romp through the trails.

I met Tiny the black lab for our project’s first photo shoot this past weekend.  You know I cannot resist a little lab puppy who loves to chew (on anything!)…

I couldn’t wait to get home from the session and show Michael the photos.  She looks like a mini-Orvis!

Watch out for more of these shots from our ongoing project!

maine dog photographer: charlie & the proposal

Charlie the Labradoodle was a great assistant during my sister’s “She Said Yes” shoot.  He happily wore a chalkboard around his furry neck, proudly announcing that his parents were getting married- MacKenzie had said yes to Philip’s proposal!

Since adopting Charlie in December, these two have grown pretty attached to him.  After meeting him, it’s easy to see why!

Thanks for checking out more of Charlie the labradoodle!

March 9, 2010 - 12:36 pm Sheila & Bob - It certainly is evident that two folks who love their dog as much as they do and allow him to share in their joy are two very special people who will have a wonderful life together. We are sure they will make many furry friends happy throughout their years together.

March 10, 2010 - 10:27 am Emily - Charlie is so adorable, and I love how he was there for their engagement! I love the chalkboard idea, too!!

March 11, 2010 - 10:45 am leesia - too. stinkin. adorable. !!!

maine dog photographer: charlie the labradoodle!

Right before Christmas, my sister, MacKenzie, and her fiancé’, Philip, (read the story of their engagement HERE) adopted a labradoodle named Charlie.  As a photographer, I was dying to come down to North Carolina from Maine to meet  (and photograph!) Charlie.  Had I not been able to photograph MacKenzie & Philip’s proposal last week, I would not have met Charlie until May!

He is such a big sweetheart who could seriously cuddle with humans all day long!  I was lucky to be able to photograph Charlie at my parents house on Bald Head Island where there is an abundance of beautiful natural light throughout.

How sweet is this face?

Charlie loves to dance!  We tied my mother’s Burberry scarf on him for fun.  I had a hard time taking it off, he looked so cute!

I’ll be posting more photos of Charlie soon!  He was a great help in my “She Said Yes” photo shoot!

maine dog photographer: the proposal

If you follow my other blog, geared more towards humans, you might have seen that I recently photographed my sister getting engaged.  Her dog, Charlie, was there and knew from the very beginning that I was hiding behind a tree taking pictures of the whole scene.

Dogs are just too smart.

I’m looking forward to posting several more pictures of Charlie the labradoodle this week!

February 17, 2010 - 2:11 pm Alexandra Freeman - Love the photos with the new lense! I am in absolute love with my Nikkor 50mm 1.8. I wouldn't mind a 35mm 1.4 though :). Great shots, so jealous there's no snow on the ground in Maine! We got about 6 inches last night here in NH. Makes me long for my parents' backyard in Scarborough...

maine dog photographer: wolfe’s neck

Orvis and I cut out of work early last week to go hiking in Wolfe’s Neck State Park, one of our very favorite places in Maine.  I brought along my camera and snapped a few slobbery-filled pictures of my crazy black dog.

I’m not sure that it got over 30 degrees that day, but Orvis went for a full-out swim in the water.  Crazy dog!

I’m incredibly thankful for the life I have that allows me to ditch work and take my dog hiking in the middle of the day.

maine dog photographer: luna’s coffee table book!

Yesterday I decided to work from home because I really wanted to be there the minute the UPS truck came.  I would make up reasons to leave the office just so I could pass by our front door and casually take a peek at the front steps.  Seriously, this happened no less than fifteen times…  The brown box finally found its way to our doorstep and I literally tore it open with excitement and squealed with delight when I saw the book inside.

Luna’s coffee table book arrived yesterday and after snapping a few photos of it, I rushed downtown to the Old Port to share it with my dear friends, Darcy & Carolyn.  It was a surprise gift to both of them, to help them in celebrating Luna’s birthday tomorrow.  Both Darcy & Carolyn have been so incredibly supportive of me since I started my business, this book was just one small way to express my gratitude.

And, guess what?  They loved it!

A few of my favorite spreads from Luna’s Book.

February 5, 2010 - 3:38 pm april - It is always SO exciting when products arrive... it's seriously like xmas for me :) I'm sure they love the album!!

three years ago…

Our best friend in the world came into our lives three years ago, today.  He was 5 pounds at the time we brought him home and was scared of just about everything that moved.  We made the decision, on that sweet Sunday afternoon, to call him Orvis, after the fly-fishing company, and bought him a green collar.  He’s been wearing green everyday since…

A series of family pictures.  The night we brought Orvis home in February of 2007;  a hike in North Carolina in September of 2007;  and our backyard in Maine in 2009.

And… because I’m self conscious about posting mostly pictures from an old point and shoot, this is one of my favorite pictures of Orvis.

Thank you, Orvis, for giving us the best three years of our lives!

maine dog photographer: dances with dogs!

I meet people all the time who tell me that they are convinced that I have one of the best jobs in the world and I do not hesitate for one second to tell them that I completely agree- I love what I do.

This week I was able to meet with another small business owner who is also passionate about her work.  Julie Bernier truly loves what she does.  It’s always amazing for me to be able to capture that kind of love.

As the owner of Dances with Dogs, Maine’s only daycare for puppies and small-breed dogs, Julie spends her days working with the cutest dogs – helping to properly socialize them.  Calling on her background experience and Master’s degree in social work, Julie enforces appropriate learned behaviors in dogs of similar sizes through their interaction with one another.

And, most importantly, the dogs look up to and love their pack leader!

Julie has two of her own labs, Tonya & Casco.

Inviting me over to photograph cute puppies playing in the snow wasn’t enough for Julie!  She sent me home with the some of the best goodies- a dog leash holder and a tug toy that she makes and sells herself!  And, don’t you just love her logo for Dances with Dogs?  (Julie is quite the yogi too!)

I am convinced that if a puppy ever comes into our lives again, he or she will be definitely be applying for a spot at Dances with Dogs!  If only Orvis was 50 pounds lighter…

Thank you, Julie, for having me over!  I’m so excited for our future collaborative projects!
