My DIY door desk at the & unlimited studio has been featured on the Planet Green website! We’ve been shocked at the number of awesome websites to pick up my initial post about the door desk. I’ll be posting pictures of the new house soon! You’ll see the same technique of DIY furniture from found objects! For now, check out Planet Green’s write-up!

What a whirlwind weekend! Although the time absolutely flew by and my head is still spinning, the studio’s grand opening celebration was a success!

I was so lucky to have so many wonderful people who were here to pitch in. My mother and grandmother were kind enough to fly up from North Carolina for the weekend, and were both huge helps! Michael, my usual go-to guy, was another handy one to have around! Saturday morning (as I was trying to get out of mopping duty!), I was shocked to see my dad come waltzing into the studio! He made the surprise visit all the way from Wyoming! The opening went off without a hitch because of these guys- I could not have done it without them!

Unfortunately I didn’t manage to capture nearly enough pictures of the guests or the delicious food (Scratch Bakery cupcakes! mmm!)…

I started receiving beautiful bouquets of flowers from family and friends who were unable to make it! Coming to the studio is always a joy for me, but this week it’s especially fun, as I have such beautiful arrangements to look at while working!

Stacey, a fellow dog photographer from Cape Cod, made the trip up to Maine and brought Orvis a toy of his own!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who came out on Saturday night, and to those of you who were there in spirit!

I have been dragging my feet on writing this post about the new studio because it’s still missing some pretty important final touches. My sign will be here within the next two weeks and my “photography” decals for the storefront windows should also be finished by the end of next week. I’m also still waiting on some other canvases to arrive, one of which will replace the giant flat screen television on the wall (it belongs to my landlords!) above the fireplace. Regardless, I’m psyched with how everything has come together! I know that I could not have done it without the gracious help of my parents and Michael. Surely, I would still be on the first coat of paint had they not pitched in big time!

Even Orvis has been a help, as he likes to sit in the windows and watch what’s happening in Willard Square- real life advertising!

I absolutely adore this space, and everyone who wanders in seems to agree with me- it’s absolutely perfect! I love being able to sit at my desk and watch the hustle and bustle of the square outside the window. Scratch Bakery is right across the street, which has already proven to be deliciously dangerous! It’s fun to see an entire neighborhood that revolves around a successful bakery, such as Scratch. They’re closed on Mondays and life in the square might as well shut down too because it’s absolutely silent! Tuesday through Sunday, however, it’s business as usual- there always seems to be a steady flow of loyal customers headed inside to check out the scrumptious treats du jour.

My desk, made of an old door from the plantation home my parents renovated in North Carolina, is one of my favorite parts about the studio!

Ampersands are everywhere!

Another favorite piece is my zinc-topped coffee table, which has already come in handy as a prop for shoots!

I was thrilled to get this print in the mail yesterday- the loves of my life at Cape Neddick back in September!

The & unlimited shooting space in the back and my favorite model, Orvis!

Orvis has been such a patient model as I familiarize myself with my new lighting equipment.

For the past two weeks things for the studio have been arriving at the house and it has been nothing less than thrilling! Today, however, my heart sank for our UPS man. I cringed as I watched him trudge through the snow (of course, wearing shorts!) carrying six of my seamless paper backgrounds- each nine feet long! On any other day- with no painful rib injury- I would have gladly been out there (of course, not wearing shorts!) helping him. When all was said and done, fortunately for me, he didn’t seem to mind too much.
