This is sweet Jake.  While the three younger dogs run around and play together outside, Jake sometimes likes to take it easy by the fireplace.

Jake & the newest (dog) addition to the family, Huck!  They are quite the pair!

Huck is a big, goofy puppy who loves to give everyone lots of attention!

While Jake naps inside, these three can be found outside causing trouble, for sure!

Winston is at that age where he can play hard with the other pups or relax just as easily inside.  A perfect blend!

Winston’s sweet sister, Sage, made me super homesick for my own black lab.  I barely let her leave my side!  She’s such a lovebug, that she didn’t mind too much… as long as I didn’t stop scratching!

Hopefully one day Orvis will get the chance to meet all of his outrageously fun cousins!

Meet Lexy and Gilbert:

Lexy is an absolute sweetheart!  A tad bit shy in the beginning, she gradually warmed up to the idea of being photographed.  While we were at Twin Brooks this morning, she seemed so at ease- everything just seemed right in her world!

Gilbert is full of life and absolutely fearless!  He introduced us to nearly a dozen other dogs who instantly took to his spunky personality.  He and Lexy seem to be the perfect complements!

They are two peas in a pod!

Thank you, Marie, Lexy and Gilbert!  I cannot wait to return to Twin Brooks and enjoy its natural beauty.  Somehow I just don’t think it will be the same without watching Lexy and Gilbert run all over the place!

Judging by the impressive turnout, the walk was surely a success!  Congratulations, Team DogPowered!

We’ll definitely be seeing more of Miss Marley on this blog, as Michael and I are dog sitting her in a few weeks!  We’re in for a good time- she and Orvis are already pals

For his first act as President of the Southern Pines Welcoming Committee he decided to visit the train station downtown, which was conveniently located in between the ice cream parlor and the deli…  What better place to share his love for Southern Pines than with the town’s newest arrivals!  So one Friday afternoon, Mason began the short stroll downtown to welcome the train and all of it’s passengers.  Who knew, maybe they would even buy him a treat from the snack car for his warm greeting!  Mason smiled to himself as he walked through town, thinking how great his plan was.  When he arrived at the train station he could barely contain his excitement!  After a few minutes of near silence at the station, Mason heard his tummy growl as he looked across the street to the deli and just over his shoulder to the ice cream parlor.  ”Not now,” he told his stomach, “I have work to do!” 

When nearly an hour passed without a single sign of any train, Mason became a little discouraged.  He walked to the other side of the platform to investigate this strange occurrence and realized, when he saw an Amtrak poster, that he forgot to check the train schedule!  Sure enough, there were no trains arriving at the station until after dark- which simply translated into “after dinner” for Mason.  Having gone nearly three whole hours without a bite to eat, Mason decided that he would return tomorrow.  Surely there would be just as many smiling faces to greet tomorrow!

The Southern Pines Welcoming Committee could certainly wait until tomorrow after breakfast, right?
